Meet Dr Jon Toward (Chiropractor)
Chiropractic interested me from an early age
I’m Newcastle born and Gateshead bred! I first became interested in being a chiropractor around the age of 11. Both my parents had been to see a chiropractor and it had helped to resolve the problems they both suffered from. The change in both of them was brilliant to see. (Even earlier than this, my mother is a nurse and I used to read her medical encyclopaedias and text books – not really understanding very much but this piqued my interest).
When I was 16 (1989), I landed badly from a jumping kick in a karate lesson and jarred my low back. I wasn’t sure how long I would be out of karate for. Suffering from low back and leg pain, I went to see my parents Chiropractor. After the first treatment I felt instantly better and after a couple of weeks I felt so much better that I was able to resume Karate again. This spurred me on to become a Chiropractor so in 1994 I enrolled at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth and never looked back!
From Graduation to Practice Success
I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree and a Master of Science degree in Chiropractic and immediately returned home to the North East. After six years as an associate I decided to start my own practice here in Forest Hall. I have a particular interest in sports chiropractic and have been very lucky to be team Chiropractor to both Newcastle United Football Club (dream job) and Middlesbrough Football Club, both of which are current positions. I also have several world champions on my list of patients. I have also appeared on the BBC Radio Newcastle Breakfast Show panel on a regular basis.

I Practice What I Preach
In my spare time, when it’s not spent with my son, I enjoy 5 a-side football, going to the gym (weights, boot-camp, circuits and body balance). I think it’s important to look after yourself through diet, exercise and have a healthy work/life balance in order to maintain your health for as long as you can.
